Boat Jetty & Marina Dock GRP Grating

Boat Jetty & Marina Dock GRP Grating
On a boat jetty, pontoon or marina finger pier, steel rusts, timber rots and concrete spalls under saltwater and UV. ZeAllgrate GRP grating is immune to saltwater, UV-stabilized and lightweight — the long-term decking for jetties, marina decks, boatyard platforms and floating-dock walkways, fixed throughout with SS316 (A4-80) marine-grade fasteners.
- Saltwater-immune: no galvanic corrosion in splash zone or immersion
- UV-stabilized resins: vinyl ester for splash zone, ISO UV-stabilized for atmospheric coastal exposure
- Grit-top walking surface for wet decks (wet coefficient of friction > 0.7)
- Marina decks and finger piers rated for pedestrian crowd loading
- GRP panels up to 1220 x 3660 mm; thickness 25 / 30 / 38 / 40 / 50 mm
- SS316 (A4-80) clips and fasteners; FRP edge banding around the panel perimeter
GRP Grating Configuration Options
| Component | Recommended Configuration | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Deck panels | Molded 38.1 / 50.8 mm grit-top, vinyl ester UV-stabilized, gray | Piers, jetties and gangways |
| Long spans | Pultruded I-bar grating | Finger piers and coastal boardwalks |
| Fasteners | SS316 (A4-80), passivated, about 2 clips per panel | Marine-grade, no mixed alloys |
| Stair treads | Pultruded treads, grit-top nosing | Stair flights and gangways |
Marine decks are specified against salt, UV and wet traffic: vinyl ester for splash-zone panels, SS316 clips and fasteners throughout, and grit-top where the surface stays wet. Boardwalks and piers use molded or pultruded grating on pultruded or FRP framing for a fully non-metallic structure. Confirm wave uplift, buoyancy and coastal building code on floating structures.

Frequently Asked Questions
Steel corrodes in saltwater and timber rots or is attacked by marine borers, while GRP grating is immune to saltwater and UV, is light enough for piers and floating structures, and needs no painting or ongoing maintenance.
Use vinyl ester UV-stabilized resin for the splash zone and immersion areas, and isophthalic UV-stabilized resin for atmospheric coastal exposure; a gel-coat topcoat is recommended for long-term UV color retention.
Use SS316 (A4-80) marine-grade clips and fasteners throughout, about two clips per panel, and never mix alloys on one deck.
A grit-top embedded-silica surface is specified where the deck spends much of its life wet; the marine configuration is designed for a wet coefficient of friction above 0.7.
