Micro & Mini Mesh GRP Grating Panels

Micro & Mini Mesh GRP Grating Panels
Standard molded GRP grating uses 38 x 38 mm openings. Micro mesh (mini mesh) GRP grating shrinks the opening to 12, 15 or 20 mm while keeping the corrosion-proof, anti-slip properties of molded GRP — so high heels, wheelchair casters and small tools no longer drop through. On the standard 1220 x 3660 mm panel, micro mesh is offered alongside the Mini-Mesh 19.05 mm top over a 38.1 mm base.
- Openings 12 / 15 / 20 mm square, plus Mini-Mesh 19.05 mm top over 38.1 mm bottom
- ADA toe-passing: openings at or below about 13 mm keep heels and casters from dropping through
- Blocks small tools, screws and parts falling through to equipment below
- Grit-top option: coefficient of friction 0.6-0.8 dry, 0.5-0.7 wet
- GRP panels up to 1220 x 3660 mm; thickness 25 / 30 / 38 / 40 / 50 mm
- Flexural strength about 110 MPa (ASTM D790); Barcol hardness 40-50 (ASTM D2583)
GRP Grating Configuration Options
| Opening | Best For | Key Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| 12 mm | Fine particle control, heel pins, small foot traffic | Stops the smallest tools and parts |
| 15 mm | Pedestrian decks, rooftop walkways, ADA routes | Balances toe-passing safety with open area |
| 20 mm | General anti-slip pedestrian and light service | More drainage than 12/15 mm, still heel-friendly |
| 19.05 mm Mini-Mesh | Public access, ADA-compliant small openings | Mini-Mesh top over 38.1 mm base (about 44% open) |
Reserve micro mesh for the walking and working zones, and use standard 38 mm mesh on purely drainage or equipment decks where no one walks regularly — that puts the heel-friendly, part-retentive surface exactly where it is needed. Panels are fixed with SS304/SS316 clips, a 3-5 mm expansion gap and a minimum 40 mm bearing on supports.

Frequently Asked Questions
Choose a 12 mm or 15 mm opening. Openings at or below roughly 13 mm prevent thin high heels and small wheelchair casters from dropping through, which is the core concern for accessible routes. Add a grit-top surface for wet-weather slip resistance.
Panel span rating depends mainly on thickness and glass content, not opening size. A micro mesh panel feels stiffer under foot because it distributes a point load over more bars, but for long spans or heavy loads select the correct thickness or pair it with pultruded supports.
Yes, open area is lower than 38 mm mesh. For walkways and equipment decks that is rarely a problem; for high-flow trench covers use standard mesh, or use micro mesh only on the pedestrian strip.
Thickness follows the support span and load across the molded range of 25, 30, 38, 40 and 50 mm on the 1220 x 3660 mm panel; 38 mm is the workhorse for mixed pedestrian and light equipment traffic.
