Grit-top anti-slip GRP grating stair treads, molded & pultruded, engineered to OSHA 1910.23 / EN ISO 14122 — made by ZeAllgrate.

GRP grating stair treads
Product Overview

GRP Grating Stair Treads

GRP grating stair treads replace steel and aluminium treads on industrial stairs where corrosion, slip and electrical conductivity are hazards. Molded or pultruded glass reinforced plastic treads carry a grit-top anti-slip surface as standard.

  • Tread in molded or pultruded FRP grating, grit-top anti-slip standard
  • Stair angle 30°–45°; rung / tread spacing 250 / 300 mm
  • Non-conductive, spark-resistant, corrosion-proof
  • Bolt-together fixing with SS304 / SS316 hardware — no welding
  • OSHA 1910.23 access load-tested; designed to EN ISO 14122

Installation

How to Install GRP Stair Treads

Correct bearing, fixing and edge sealing preserve the designed tread load rating.

  1. Bearing — provide minimum 40 mm bearing on each support per ISO 14122-3 practice.
  2. Fixing — use SS304/SS316 clips; minimum 2 hold-down clips per beam, spaced ≤1219 mm (4 ft) on centre, minimum 4 clips per panel.
  3. Orientation — run pultruded bearing bars across the span, never parallel; leave a 3–5 mm thermal expansion gap at fixed supports.
  4. Edge sealing — seal cut tread edges with resin in corrosive service; radius corners to avoid stress points.
  5. Nosing — specify a contrasting grit or yellow nosing where code requires tread-edge visibility.

Complete Systems

Treads as Part of a Full Access System

GRP grating stair treads are often supplied with matching handrails, caged ladders and platforms. ZeAllgrate engineers complete FRP access systems to the same standards.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What surfaces are available on GRP stair treads?

Grit-top embedded silica is standard for wet and oily areas; concave/convex molded profiles suit general walkways, and micro-mesh offers heel-friendly, toe-passing small openings.

What standards do the stair treads meet?

Treads and access systems are engineered to OSHA 1910.23 and EN ISO 14122, with handrail height ≥1100 mm (ISO) / 42 in (OSHA), stair angle 30°–45° and grit-top anti-slip as standard.

Can I get a complete ladder and stair system?

Yes — see our FRP Ladder & Stair Systems for vertical, inclined and caged ladders, bolt-together stair strings and treads, with no welding required on site.

How are treads fixed to the stringers?

Secure with SS304/SS316 grating clips or clamps at every support intersection; minimum 40 mm bearing on each support and minimum 2 hold-down clips per beam, spaced ≤1219 mm (4 ft) on centre.

Are GRP treads suitable for corrosive and wet environments?

Yes. They are non-conductive, spark-resistant and corrosion-proof, ideal for chemical, wastewater, marine and cooling-tower stairs where steel treads rust.
